I'm not a smoker, but I've been sketching a lot of it. This is what happens when I ask someone, "What should I draw?" when faced with boredom. Between a friend and I, Korean rappers who look like delinquents/bad boys from the American '50s and the Japanese '80s ('yanki') have been a source of fangirling recently.

We have no clue why.

Remember when I said I was working on something and that it'd be unveiled soon? It's not exactly 'soon', but it is here! Finally!

Collaborating with Michelle Cruz, we have opened up our small Etsy shop, cocolatte. We have more ideas for it, many designs in mind, and are hoping for the best. At the moment, we only have a limited amount of charms. Check it out and spread the word to friends alike!

So it's almost over. Just a few loose ends to tie together to finish this particular chapter of life. You know what that means!

It's getting there. I haven't really had the time to finish it up even though it's so simple. Sorry, Japan. I've kind of failed you there. Hopefully I can get this finished soon after things are a bit more settled and resolved. Give it a month or so :( I saw that Burma and Hawaii were affected on the same day as well. Stay strong for all of those who have been dealt damage by the natural disasters.

I'll be back with another post once this is done.

Since everyone's been posting theirs up, I decided I'll do so as well. Every year, the graduating Illustration class prints a poster with self-created portraits of each senior il student, advertising the show. This one just happens to be mine.

I want a dog (specifically a corgi) badly! My dad mentioned that we may get one when I head back up. Let's hope for it!

I don't know what sound rabbits make. Maybe they make noises in between a squeak and a chirp? Squirp? Chireak?

Chinese New Year is tomorrow, February 3rd, so I thought I'd draw something for it. I always manage to start on something every year, but never finish. Sir rabbit is lucky. Here's a little something for everyone to bring in the new year, eastern style. I'll be back again for something on Cambodian New Year which is in April.

So, this is it. It's my final year and things have started off slow. I can feel it already getting rocky. I wanted to change my name, but apparently there are a ton of 'Jennifer Hong' names out there. So jhomantic it is (sorry, M-Flo, don't hate me. I'll try to change it to something not as weird as Wtschnitzers).

I hope to get this blog really going once I start working on things. I really need to get into the habit of posting my work, whether it's in process or completed. I know not many people look for or follow me, but that's alright. I have to start tagging things as well. Lots of new things to take into consideration.

If you're in the same boat as me, I wish you luck. Let's have a great 2010-2011 year!

Hey peeps. It's been awhile, right? I've just been trying to get a hold of myself as an illustrator. It's some tough love here and it's not really helping the mind at all. I'll be posting up the work I've been doing in the past few months in the coming weeks.

This assignment was for Computer Illustration. I'm quite happy with the class and it's fun and amusing. We had to explore and design a character for a certain genre or type of product, not falling into the trap of generic character designs. I put my character in the genre of children's books or kids' television shows. Poe is like an outerspace Pippi Longstocking and E.T. combined into one.

So, my scanner is pretty terrible. It does the job in some areas, but obviously not for paintings of any sort. Sigh. So this picture is of bad quality because of that. I'll have to rescan it later.

Decided I needed a new profile pic for Facebook of myself, so I drew it and painted it with watercolor. Little ditty practice.

Once I settle down a bit, I'll be uploading a lot more artwork onto this blog. I really don't want it to die or be a dead blog like my other ones. Here's to making sure it doesn't happen!

Also, Happy Chinese New Year! The Cambodian one is still a way off!

Everyone's seen this, but I just haven't posted it here. It was a lyrics assignment. I had so many ideas, but this one seemed the strongest to others. I based it off of Kanye West's Street Lights despite it being Kanye. It turned out alright.

Alrighty then. These were a few of the results that came from 'collaborating' with two Antwerp students. They were fine arts majors, though, so . . . it was an interesting process. The project was called 3x3 and the objective was to have three people create illustrations/visuals relating to one another in some way or form for a few weeks. It was purely telecommunicating and actually quite hard to keep up with considering we were from two different regions. I didn't mind it all that much, but I kind of wish I could've gotten more out of it. Maybe on another collaboration with someone elsewhere.

The first and third one were both drawn in pencil, colored in colored pencil and then scanned into PS CS3 for the rest. The second one with the circus is just pencil and Micron pens.

The first of many, many to come.

These are some character scribbles from near the end of summer. They were done in PS CS3. I'm still pretty bad at it and I need to practice more. Might finish these two some other day. Maybe.

Bet you couldn't tell that I'm not a big hands person. Eh? Eh~?

Short update:

As you can see, the blog's under construction at the moment. I'll get all of it set before the month is out. I had pictures of my artwork, but they all came out blurrier than I thought. I'm going to have to wait before I can get that stuff up. I'll be posting random summer sketches in a bit though.

I really don't take care of my blogs all that much. I probably should . . .

With spring break coming up, I'll have some free time to actually get my artwork up on here from class assignments and just diddly widdlies I concoct. I'll also get a proper layout going for this blog. First major art blog ever and it's treated like the blank planners I have sitting on my desk. Utter fail.

Well, well, well. It looks like I've gotten a new blog and I hope I can get it primped, up and running soon. I want it to have aesthetically pleasing qualities... at least I hope it turns out that way. Just wanted to give a heads up and say "Welcome!" To my art blog. I'll be posting sketchbook pages, doodles, paintings done for and in class, assignments for my illustration class, side projects, and anything relating to the world of art and craft. Even the really funky or weird stuff.
